Well, my name is Richard and I've always just gone by Rich.  When my wife and I's kids were in middle/high school we were on a pontoon boat headed to the Torch Lake Sand Bar in Northern Michigan when they questioned why I was called Rich and not Chard.  So they thought it would be funny and took it upon themselves to start calling me Chard...and it stuck.  Throughout school the kids and their friends all called me Chard.  Couple that with my love of cooking, smoking and getting a good char on the meat, it only made sense to name the company Charred!
